So I had a slight disagreement with some other Atari people on Facebook today. As most of you know know, it's the 40th anniversary of our beloved Atari machines.
So a post was made on Facebook covering this, and also the Nintendo game system. 2 pictures were posted to go along with the article, one for the Amiga and one for the ST.
I've got no problem with the Amiga being there - after all, it and the ST were released in the same calendar year, with the ST coming out a few months earlier than the Amiga. What I mentioned in a comment was that I wished they had used a better picture to represent the ST. I'll post both pictures here so you can see what I'm talking about.

Now the ST's hi-res screens are great. Sharp, clear and crisp - perfect for word processing, DTP, sequencing, etc. However, it would have been just as easy to show the ST displaying a colorful picture like the Amiga did. Anyone who is not familiar with the Amiga and ST and looks at these 2 pictures...well, draw your own conclusions as to what they would think.
Also, price isn't mentioned or that the Amiga is showing an extra external floppy drive that didn't come standard with the A1000 when it was sold. I purchased my first ST and it looked pretty much like the ST in the picture except that it did have the color display, I got it all for just under $1000 (999.00). The Amiga only came with the base unit - no monitor and no external floppy drive. At the time I bought my ST, that base Amiga was going for just under $1500.00. What you're seeing onscreen would probably go for over $2000.00 at the time.
Anyway, I just thought that the layout in the article could have been done differently.
Am I just being argumentative here? 🙂
BTW, why is that sometimes you can't give a "like" but it's only a grey bar instead?
Thanks.
