Hey guys, I just found out about this site at the Expo this weekend. I wanted to bother you with some questions. I have a 130 XE with an XF551 that I am trying to bring back to life so that I can go back to have some of the fun I had with it during the 80s. Right now all I have is the units, no power supplies or cables.
So my questions are, if I wanted to make my XE all modern and cool with some of the cool upgrades that I saw are now available, how would you guys do it?
I know for sure I am ordering a Fujinet. But if I wanted to upgrade video to hopefully get some way to plug it to a new HDMI monitor, would a Sophia2 be a good choice? or is something like a VBXE better? I can't tell if the VBXE would give me a different video plug.
Do you guys think the Ultimate 1 MB is a good idea?
Thanks in advance for any feedback you may have. Ed.
Sophia, U1M, and a Side2 or 3 cart for emulated hard drive.
Thanks for the info guys!
I am ordering a FujiNet today to start. I am also going to do another search for the power supply at my garage this weekend. Getting closer to getting this going. :-)
Sophia2 is good... I have UAVs in all of my 800XLs but have to use a RetroTink with the UAVs. Personally I would stay away from VBXE but that is just my opinion. I had one a few years ago and the monitor requirements made it unusable for me. Maybe that has changed but I don't know.
Agreed! U1MB for sure.. VBXE - check this link for more info https://forums.atari.io/topic/7577-vbxe-is-this-upgrade-for-you/
U1MB is always a good idea. Very versatile. I have one in my 800XL and love it.
