Looking for anyone who has experience using the HDDRIVER and UltraSatan with Megafile on an ST. I installed the HDDRIVER on the Megafile as ID 0 and everything is working fine. Partitions look good and it always boots. Then I re-configurated my UltraSatan so that its SD Cards were IDs 1 and 2 so that they wouldn't conflict with the Megafile. I plugged it into the Megafile and ran the HDDRIVER Utilities and it sees the SD Card just fine. I partitioned the SD Card so that it has one 250MB drive and that's it. I also inserted it in my Windows PC and copied some files to it, then back to the UltraSatan and copied those files onto the Megafile. Everything looks good. That was yesterday. Now today I boot up and the SD Card in the UltraSatan is completely blank. No partitions, no data. The HDDRIVER utilities will let me partition and recreate it just fine, but I'm wondering what happened to it since yesterday when I had already done all of that.
Anyone ever had strange experiences with the HDDRIVER and the Megafile / UltraSatan?
Thanks,
Jason
I can see where having multiple hard disk driver software might cause a conflict.
:)
It's odd, but the original Satandisk (previous version by Jookie before the Ultrasatan, always required a "soft/warm" reset on my ST's here after booting up. I think that was sort of normal for it though...but annoying. :)
UPDATE: I discovered that the reason my SD Card gets wiped out when I connect it to my second Megafile is because that Megafile is using ICD Pro drivers, and when I load the HDDRIVER PRG file, it works but the SD Card is blank from that point forward. So in the end, I installed the .SYS HDDRIVER file onto my second Megafile so that it's set up exactly the same as the first Megafile, and now the SD Card partition is recognized on both machines. I guess it gets cranky if you're first booting with ICD Pro and then switch to HDDRIVER and try to use an SD Card at the same time.
The only other thing that is weird that I noticed is that on both machines with both Megafiles, when you cold boot, it recognizes the UltraSatan SD Card as the exact same partition scheme as the Megafile, which is not correct. Then after the cold boot, I hit the reset button on the back of the machine and it restarts and THEN sees the SD Card partitions correctly. Odd, but seems to work.
I have not. I've never tried to use an older ACSI device with an US. My Mega STe and STacy both have internal US"s as their "primary" mass storage devices, so I don't have any experience with this, unfortunately.
BTW, with TOS v1.4, you can safely partition SD-cards right up to the 512 meg limit for that TOS version (and multiple partitions on each card).
Just curious - what order are you turning the devices on? I'm assuming it's:
Megafile
US
Mega ST
And have you tried altering the boot order just to see what happens? (always the Mega ST last, of course).
I don't know if it will be of any help or not but there is a FAQ page for HDDriver:
