On the ground at VCFMW with a Guru's meet up - Tillek, Darklord, Amis (Me😁) and Lonny Purcell of GFA Basic Editor. Show kicks off at 9AM Central tomorrow and is already shaping up to be an outstanding event!
Our Booth at VCFMW - Set up and stocked by Tillek
Not sure if anyone has already seen this or not, but here's a link to a video of the show. Pretty good walk-through. At around 27 mins 35 secs into it, there's Atari stuff. https://youtu.be/yYdNxaWkERM?si=9q1bXAyTknOplZdL
Thanks to everyone for posting so many incredible photos of the event. It gives everyone who couldn't attend, a great idea of what was there and all the neat displays. Good to see a variety of Atari represented. I have a question, and I think I may have asked this before but can't remember the answer, what would be the closed event like this to Canada (Ontario)... basically, I'd be crossing at Detroit. Is there one that takes place close to me?
Just a reminder for the Atari BBS Community Chat for tonight, 8pm eastern (Friday, September 15th).

Agenda wise, we will be discussing the VCF Midwest show recap. Don't forget to wear your VCF Midwest shirt if you got one! Bring your pictures and stories too!
See you there!
Dang, now you're just trying to make me feel even worse about leaving Sunday morning instead of later that day....
Was Mickster actually there and did anyone get a chance to talk to him? Thanks.
If you DIDN'T know he was there, he was with the "learn to solder" and "make things that blink a lot" group that was set up right next to the "Bistro" and the "Lan Party". I got informed when I went to stop at the 8 Bit Guy booth and bought my copy of Attack of the Petscii Robots (for the A8 and 7800) and some guy with him (not sure if he was just there or an "employee") said "Oh, the Atari BBS Community, did you know that Ward Christensen is here?" blah blah blah ... as I was having a moment like a lead guitarist of a high school rock band that was about to meet Santana.
Oh... so forgive me if I missed a conversation.... but did you know Ward Christensen was there?
Got to meet him on Sunday as we were leaving. Now I feel like I've made the pilgrimage to our "BBS Mecca".
Oh, here's a couple of things I bought. Some nice cupholders and...yeah, yeah, total nerdism but it's
an Atari themed trailer hitch. Sue me. 😁
Radi0 Shack's hardware line made an appearance...
There were some ancient looking phones (how many of you actually used these back in the day?).
Here's some pictures from the Atari BBS Guru groups display (our bunch, including Amis, Lp, Tillek and me, as well as Paradroyd). Check out Lp's GFA Basic display with a Vampire/ST running MINT! (the Amiga Boing demo adaptation seemed to really confuse the Commodore crowd). 😁
OS/2 Warp was there...
The Nabu network hardware that everyone's been talking about? Yep, there was one there.
Here's some miscellaneous stuff I saw - anyone recognize any of these? 😃
The crowd was awesome - lots and lots of people! The last 2 pictures show the auction. Proceeds from it go towards funding the VCF Midwest show the following year. The auctioneer is great - runs the whole thing with a real sense of humor (and he knows his hardware!) (and yes, he's wearing a cowboy hat). 😀
One of the cooler things I saw was where someone took a C64 and modified it's keys to reflect the runic language in the game Ultima IV Quest of the Avatar. He also modified code to reflect the changes as well.
The Atari presence was much better this year. There were ST's for sale, as well as a Falcon 030 and Mega STe showing off games and even a kiosk.
Someone was very optimistic about selling their 8bit stuff. 😁 The 8bit Guy was there with his Attack of the Petscii Robots game as well.
There were a few macs. Transparency is obviously important to one owner. 😀
Adding a few more pictures - didn't make sense to start a separate thread.
VCF Midwest 2023 was another great show! I had a blast and really enjoyed being able to meet and do things with Andy (Tillek), Dan (Paradroyd), Rob (Amis), and Lonny (LP).
PS We actually got to meet and talk (at length) with Jim Drew, creator of the amazing WiModem232.
