As discussed on the Southern AMIS BBS, I have acquired the original disk and manual for Carina II (not the shadow versions, but the Jerry Horanoff 1988 version). Anyway, these are nice to have, given the lack of tampering. While they may not be as interesting as a 1988 BBS with message bases and Atascii screens, these files provide us with the original intent and code to compare against the many modified versions of these two BBS programs. The floppies have been copied to ATR files and are available for download on the Downloads page. Those nasty delicate micro-usb ports.. after a few times plugging and unplugging the cable those little ports soldered to the PCB just come flying off.. Micro-USB sucks so here is my solution in a 400/800 XL XE right or left angle (just flip the SIO plug) SIO2PC-USB C device for use with RespeQT or AspeQT.

So recently I decided to pull out the Obi200 and connect to a eBay purchased US Robotics 56K modem. Using My Mac with the atari800MacX emulator loaded up BobTerm and dialed into Amis86.ddns.net:9000 - So you cant dial into and IP address right? Nope, thanks to Ramsaso (Reddit) he created a modem pool with local dial up number. Amis86 is 949-325-9040 I fire up BobTerm, dial through the Obi VOIP and connect to the modem pool.. What happens next is just plain retro AwEsOmE! Check out the video of me connecting to the modem pool, hitting in the User Id and Password: amis86 and bam! connected by modem, through IP to the bbs. The data flow is perfect and so close to the original modem experience.
